General Plastics President Named Outstanding Board Member By Society Of Plastics Engineers

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Robert G. Porsche, President of General Plastics, Inc., has received the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Division Award for Outstanding Board Member. The award was presented by Hal Gilham, Awards Chair, at the 16th Annual Thermoforming Conference & Exhibition held September 17 – September 20, 2006, at the Nashville Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. It was conferred upon Porsche through a vote by the entire SPE Board of Directors.

“I am extremely proud and honored to be recognized by a very distinguished Board of Directors that has elevated the Thermoforming Division of SPE to its current status as the most prominent division in the plastics industry,” Porsche commented.

Porsche has been a contributing member of SPE since 1989. He has served as past Technical Chair of the Machinery Committee for two years and has just fulfilled a three year term as Technical Chair for the Manufacturing Processes Committee. His lengthy list of leadership accomplishments also includes being the 2005 Chair of the 15th Annual Thermoforming Conference. Held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the four day event, entitled ‘Spreading our Wings,’ has been widely regarded as one of the most successful conferences in recent years.

In recognition of General Plastics’ creativity and technical ingenuity, the company was the 2003 recipient of the prestigious annual Best Point-of-Purchase Award for complex stand alone kiosks that advertised promotional toys in Burger King restaurants across the country. In 2005, General Plastics extended its winning track record by receiving the coveted award a second time for the production of a dynamic NASCAR race car display for a globally respected event sponsor.

Porsche’s volunteer achievements also reflect his strong commitment to community. He has served as President of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce and is now President of the North Shore Library, where he is currently raising funds to meet a match grant for the purchase of computers for the children’s area.
